Your Photos
File Types:
We accept many different file types to accommodate the many different cameras, and imaging software. Although we accept almost any file type, we prefer JPEG (.jpg, .jpeg, .jpe), TIFF (.tiff, .tif), or Camera Raw (.raw, .crw, .mrw, .dcr, .dng). As a rule of thumb, the closer the file is to the original the better. If you are wondering if we accept the file type you are using please contact us.
Size and Pixels:
As a general rule of thumb, if your jpeg file is 1 megabyte or more and/or you are shooting with a 2.5 megapixel camera or higher, your file should be big enough to enlarge on canvas. Again, the closer the file is to the original the better. If you have any questions about your file please contact us.
Cropping:
We will crop your image to best fit the canvas of your choice, so giving us the uncropped original is usually the best. If you have a specific cropping you would like to see, please select the “Slight” CustomizeIt! ReTouch option and give us a description in the “special instructions” field in the order process. If you have any questions about cropping please contact us.
We happily accept photo prints, negatives, or slides. Just place your order and select “I have a print, negative, or slide” and we immediately send you an easy to use photo mailing kit. Return the kit with your print, negative, or slide and we will scan it and return it with your Photo Canvas.
Our Process and Technology
We take a lot of pride in offering a quality product, the materials and technology we use ensure we achieve that quality.
The foundation of our product is the canvas itself, we use heavyweight, high resolution, acid free canvas with a bright white, medium gloss surface. This helps to create a sharp, detailed, and well saturated finished print.
We use archival pigment inks on all of our canvases. This not only gives us high resolution but it also contributes to the longevity of your Photo Canvas, which has a permanence rating of 80 years!
We use a high end fine art printer to print your Photo Canvas. This provides us with high resolution, outstanding detail, and vibrant colors.
Every Photo Canvas gets sprayed with a protective coating to guard it from fading and environmental contaminants. This will ensure that your Photo Canvas will be around for a long time!
We use high quality artist stretcher bars on all of our Photo Canvases. Sizes 8x10 to 14x14 use standard weight stretchers, which are almost 3/4” deep. Anything 16x16 or larger we use heavy duty stretchers, which are almost 2” deep.

What megapixel camera do I need?
Any camera with 2.5 megapixels or better should work, as long as you are taking your photos at the best quality
setting on your camera. If you are unsure of the setting on your particular camera, consult your owners manual.
What does “file type” mean?
“file type” refers to the format that you save your photos as. The most popular digital photo file type is jpeg.
What file type should I send?
The best thing to do is send us your photo just as it is on your camera. If you are making adjustments to your photo before sending it we prefer JPEG, TIFF, or RAW.
Why do you prefer certain file types?
We like certain file types more than others because of the quality to file size ratio. There are some file types that have a little better resolution than jpeg, but their file size makes them too big to send over the internet.
What resolution is best?
The ideal resolution is 300ppi, but we rarely work with files of that resolution. If your file is more than 1mb you should be fine. If we have any problems with your file we will let you know before we print.
What if my file is larger than 5mb?
If this is the case please contact us and we will discuss with you the best way to get your file to us.
I use iphoto and I can’t find my photo to upload, do you know where it is?
Files are stored in ~/Pictures/iPhoto Library on your Mac OS X drive. Starting with version 1.1.1, your original filenames are kept If you already had images in the photo library, their names will not be changed."
How soon will I get my canvas?
Most of our canvases ship within four days of being ordered. The shipping time will be dependant on the shipping option you choose and your location. You will be able to track your package once it has shipped.
Will my canvas be stretched?
All of our Photo Canvases include gallery wrap stretching!
What does gallery wrap mean?
Gallery wrap refers to the type of stretching we do, where there is image wrapped around the sides and the canvas is attached to the back of the stretchers.
How do I take care of my photo canvas?
If possible your Photo Canvas should be kept out of direct sunlight and can be cleaned with a feather duster or a soft cloth. Never use water or cleaning solutions.
