Transparent Photo on canvas
Welcome to Right On Canvas!

we are very serious about doing everything we can to minimize our impact on the environment. On this page you can find out what we do & hopefully get some ideas for your home or business on how to “Go Green”. If you have any suggestions for us or would like more information about what we are doing feel free to contact us.

Powered by the Wind!
No, we don’t have a turbine on our roof but we have purchased wind power from our utility company.

Shed Some Light on it
We use only compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) using 75% less energy than normal lighting & hope to make the move to LED bulbs which uses 90% less energy than normal lighting.

Unplugged
When ever we are not using a piece of equipment, electronics or computers we turn off the power strip to eliminate any phantom power drain on our electricity.

Eco-Protection
The coating we use to protect your valuable photo on canvas is waterbased & non-toxic. This helps the environment during the
production of the coating, the application, the clean up. Our coating also provides non-toxic protection, prolonging the life of your photo on canvas.

Don’t Waste it
We are always looking for way to eliminate waste, here are a couple ways we do it. We save any blank canvas for printing internal proofs. The coating is applied with an HVLP spray gun to eliminate overspray. Shipping boxes are reused if they are not damaged, & if they are, they make their way to the recycling center.

Are We Nuts?
We switched over to using packing peanuts for shipping. I know what you are thinking, but these peanuts are anti-static & 100% biodegradable. Test it out, when you receive your photo on canvas take a packing peanut & hold in under some water. Where did it go?

Keep it Local
All of our stretcher frames are produced locally, minimizing the need for shipping the frames. Oh yeah, they are also made out of fingerjointed lumber stock, which is made out of smaller pieces jointed together to reduce waste at the mill. It is also stronger than standard lumber. That is what we call a win-win.

Plant-based
When we are done with a day at the studio we clean up with Restore cleaning products. Restore makes all plant-based cleaning products, never toxic! As a bonus to us, they are based in Minnesota so the environmental impact of shipping is reduced.

Recycle & Reuse
We already told you we reuse or recycle our boxes, but there’s more. All aluminum cans, plastic bottles, & newspapers are recyled. Our paper is reused as scrap paper, and then recyled after it’s reuse.

No Glow
See “unplugged” above. When we leave our studio there are now glowing lights sucking power.

Water “Cooler”
We recently added a water “cooler” to the studio to encourage people to drink lots of water & stop using plastic bottles. But, we decided to leave it unplugged to save energy. We still get the classic sound of the bubbling water “cooler” sound, and can still hang out by it to catch up, but we aren’t sucking elecetricity to keep it cold.

Paper Less
We do our best to communicate without paper, that is why you won’t find any advertisements, or paperwork from us in your photo on canvas shipment. When we do have to print something out, we always use both sides of the paper & when we have used every corner of the paper it goes to the recycling center. Also, all of our paper is 100% post consumer recycled to start.
